GOLD HILL - Donald "Donnie" Wayne Canupp, 57, of Gold Hill passed away Friday May 22, 2009.
Born Nov. 18, 1951, in Rowan County, he was the son of the 1ate Franklin Beadam Canup and Nellie Mae Campbell Canup, and was educated in the Rowan County Schools
He had worked at The Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, Taco Bell and at North Rowan Elementary as a Janitor. He was a member of Gold Hill Wesleyan Church where he helped with church functions whenever he was needed. Donnie loved to fish, plant flowers, and spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a niece, Tammy Myers. Mr. Canupp is survived by his brothers, Billy Ray Canup of Salisbury, and Ronald Lane Canupp of Albemarle; sisters, Janet Leigh Myers of High Point, Joyce Faye Russell and husband Danny of Salisbury; nieces, Dawn Lomax and Donna Smith; nephew, Michael Russell; great-nephew Joshua Russell; and many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: Will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27 at Gold Hill Wesleyan Church, conducted by Rev. Harold Bumby, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, and at the home of Joyce Russell for the remainder of the time.
Memorials: May be made to Gold Hill Wesleyan Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 279, Gold Hill, N.C. 28071.
