Beda Arey Lipe

RICHFIELD - Beda Arey Lipe, 81, of 37691 Paul 's Crossing Road, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle.

Born March 30, 1924, in Rowan County, Mrs. Lipe was a daughter of the late Eli O. Arey and Icy Cranford Arey. An accounting assistant, she had worked in the offices of F.L. Priester CPA, Bill Hartsell CPA and the Stanly County School System. A member of Salem United Methodist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher, member of Circle Three and the choir. She also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for seven years. Mrs. Lipe enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, sewing, quilting, crocheting and other crafts. She also enjoyed camping and trips with her family, including the annual fishing trips to the beach and traveling across country to see her boys.

Preceding her in death were infant daughter Janet Elaine Lipe; brother Fred Arey; and sisters Irene Morgan and Rena Mae Stokes.

Survivors include husband Herman Lipe of Richfield; sons Edward Lipe and wife Nancy of Richfield and Robert C. Lipe and wife Marlys of Norman, Okla.; grandson Daniel Lipe; brother Mitchell "Jack" Arey of Rockingham; and sisters Doris Barringer and Thelma Ribelin of Gold Hill.

Visitation : 6-8 tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

Service : 1 p.m. Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike McClellan and the Rev. Fred Jordan officiating.

Burial, Salem United Methodist Church cemetery.

Memorials : Salem United Methodist Church, Building Fund; or to Alzheimer 's Association.
