Patricia Lomax Eagle

SPENCER - Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Lomax Eagle, 74, of Spencer, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at the Laurels of Salisbury.

Born Feb. 20, 1940, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late A.A. and Elizabeth Lomax. Pat graduated from Spencer High School in 1958, where she met James Carr Eagle, Jr. They married on Dec. 30, 1958. She attended Salem College and Draughton Business College and earned a degree in Childhood Education from Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

She has a brother, James A. Lomax and wife Scout of Salisbury; daughter Suzanne Thacker and husband Jeff of Emerald Isle; son Chris Eagle and wife Nikki; two grandchildren, Sieria and Garrett Eagle of Salisbury; aunt Roberta Womack of Salisbury; best friend Lynn Strickland and husband Doug of Chapel Hill.

She was preceded in death by her father, A.A. Lomax; mother Elizabeth Lomax; niece Cathy Lomax Melchor, and nephew Mark Lomax.

She was a devoted wife, mother and caregiver to others. She had may careers in her lifetime. She worked as a secretary for the Assistant Dean at the School of Nursing at UNC Chapel Hill and supported her husbands' dental practice as a dental assistant.

She was a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout leader, a member to the First Baptist Church of Spencer choir and First Baptist Church of Durham. She enjoyed craft making, decorative painting, singing, and playing the piano.

She was a member of several bridge clubs, Spencer Women's Club, NC Society of the Dental Auxiliary and Xi Alpha Delta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was instrumental in starting the Outreach program at First Baptist Church.

Her most memorable times were those spent with her grandchildren, Sieria and Garrett. She will be remembered by all as a quiet, beautiful, spiritual woman.

Arrangements: Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., Monday, Dec. 29 at First Baptist of Spencer. Funeral service will be 12 p.m., Monday at First Baptist Church of Spencer with Rev. Franklin Myers officiating. Burial follows at Rowan Memorial Park.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Spencer.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Laurels of Salisbury for their loving care of Pat.
