Billy West Eagle

SALISBURY - Billy West Eagle, of Salisbury, passed on at his home on Nov. 3, 2012, after a 15-year courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born June 4, 1928, to the late Joycie Snider Eagle and Carpenter L. Eagle Sr., Bill was a 1945 graduate of Granite Quarry High School and Salisbury Commercial College. He was an employee of Carolina Tractor and Equipment Company with over 38 years of dedicated service.

Bill was a faithful member of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church. Having been active in the Homemakers Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Men's Fellowship and serving on many official boards, Bill also had 35 years of service with Boy Scout Troup 448.

He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with family and friends, especially hunting, fishing and gardening.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by sisters Thelma Silliman and Nancy Watson; brother C.L. Eagle, Jr.; and brother-in-law Edmond Silliman.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Marie Eagle; their children, Melba Melton, David and Mark Eagle; grandchildren Lori, Brian (LeJane) and Noah; great-grandchildren Keaton, Kaleigh and Serenity; brother Glenn Eagle (Sue); and many relatives.

Service and Visitation: A memorial celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 in the sanctuary of Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church conducted by Dr. Sherman Warner and Rev. Anna Mandelstamm. Visitation will follow in the church Fellowship Hall and at the home at other times. A private disposition of ashes will follow at a later date.

Memorials: May be made to Coburn Memorial United Methodist Church or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
