Daniel Frick resided in Stanly County at the time of his enlistment. He enlisted on 8 August 1862 in Iredell County as a Private in the 5th NC Infantry, Company I, at the age of 31. He was wounded in the head on 3 May 1863. Daniel was taken POW on 12 May 1864 at Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia, and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, on 15 May 1864. He was received at Elmira on 1 August 1864 and died of disease as a POW.
