Claude Howard Frick, Jr.

Claude Howard Frick, Jr., 81, of 676 Ridgewood Road, Bassett, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Monday, September 12, 2016.

He was born in Martinsville, VA, on August 21, 1935, to the late Claude Howard Frick and the late Frances Lucille Ramsey Frick.

Claude went on to graduate from Wake Forest College in Wake Forest, NC, in June 1956, with a B.B.A. degree and received the Lura Baker Paden Award in Economics. He opened the first office for J. C. Bradford & Co. in Virginia on January 7, 1970, in Martinsville, VA, where he was branch manager and partner. He retired December 31, 1999.

He was a life member of the Masonic Fraternity and a member of the Rocky Mount, VA, Masonic Lodge No. 201. Claude was also a 50 year member of Kazim Temple and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., U.S.A.

He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years and was a past member of the American Legion Post No. 11.

He was a past trustee and treasurer of the Bassett Public Library Association, Inc. which is now the Bassett Historical Society. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Bassett and a member of the Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church where he served as a trustee for 12 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice Wilde Frick of Bassett; son Claude Ellyson Frick of Bassett; daughter Harriet Frick Petrulio of Exeter, NH, and her husband Leon Aucilio Petrulio; sister, Dorothy Frick Hiatt of Mount Airy, NC, and her husband Max Roe Hiatt; three grandchildren, Taylor Frick of Martinsville, Abigail Petrulio of Exeter, NH, and Anthony Petrulio of Exeter, NH; one niece and one nephew; and cousins.

The family will greet friends at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 14th from 6-7:30 pm.

The funeral will be conducted at 2pm on Thursday, September 15th, with Pastor Douglas T. Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church, 120 Bassett Heights Rd, Bassett, VA, or The COPD Foundation.
