SALISBURY - Franklin Hoffman Ketchie, 79, of Athens, Ga., formerly of Salisbury, died Friday, June 22, 2007, at the Silverleaf Nursing Home of Athens.

Frank was born April 27, 1928, in Rowan County, the son of the late Martin Luther Ketchie and Maie Hoffman Ketchie. A graduate of Rockwell High School, he was a member of Grace Lower Stone Church and had been active in various church roles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and later joined the U.S. Air Force working as a professional photographer. He retired Jan. 1, 1968. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeant's Association and a member of the Miller-Russell American Legion Post 112 of Rockwell.

Deceased siblings include Marie Hill Lefler, Martin Luther Jr. "June" Ketchie, Lewis Ketchie, Margaret Ketchie and Patsy Reynolds.

Survivors are wife Lucille Weant Ketchie; son Barry Martin Ketchie and wife Debra of Columbus, Ohio; daughter Lucretia Jane Schewe and husband William of Wilmington; son Mark Franklin Ketchie and wife Moncia of Athens, Ga.; brother Ben Ketchie of Gold Hill; sisters Helen Ketchie Hill of Gold Hill, Georgia Ketchie McDaniel of Pogouson, Va.; grandchildren Bryan Hartman, Spring Grove, Pa., Barry Matthew Ketchie and wife Justine of Oklahoma City, Okla., Jeremy James Ketchie and wife Shalane of Phoenix, Ariz., Stephen Daniel Ketchie of Rexburg, Id., Lara Beth Ketchie of Salisbury, Lisa Marie Artiguez of Columbus, Ohio, Christopher Edward Dudding and wife Kathy of Tucson, AZ, David Allen Dudding and Lisa Jane Dawson and husband Rodney of Wilmington, Joshua Mark Ketchie and Sarah Anne Ketchie of Athens, Ga.; great-grandchildren Abigail Leia Ketchie, Brayden Matthew Ketchie, Victoria Lucille Ketchie and Noelle Ketchie of Oklahoma City, Okla., Aubrey Rose Ketchie of St. Louis, Mo., Aaron Michael Artiguez and Kyle Christopher Artiguez both of Columbus, Ohio.

Visitation: 6-8 pm Sunday at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Funeral Services: 11 am Monday, Grace Lower Stone Church, conducted by Rev. Kevin Gilliam, pastor. Burial to follow in the church cemetery with Full Military Graveside Rites by the US Air Force.
