Bertha Caroline Trexler, 102, formerly of Salisbury, died Wednesday (May 28, 1997) at Centerclair Nursing Home, Lexington.

Born Jan 8, 1895, in Rowan County, Miss Trexler was a daughter of the late Levi and Agnes Eagle Trexler. A graduate of the Rowan County schools, Catawba College and Asheville Collegiate Institute, she retired in 1961 after 37 years with the Rowan County Schools, where she had taught all grades.

She was a volunteer at the Salisbury VA Medical Center for 21 years. A lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, she was active in the Senior Sunday School Class. She was a member of the St. Matthew's Community Senior Citizens and the Liberty Home Extension Club.

There are no immediate survivors.

Services: 4 p.m. Friday, St. Matthew' Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Jeffcoat. Burial, church cemetery.
