Leo F. Goodman

Leo F. Goodman, 96, of Gold Hill, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015.

Mr. Goodman was born in Rowan County, the son of the late Bennett F. Goodman and Mary L. Morgan Goodman. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. He worked for many years as a dairy farmer, serving on the Coble Dairy Board of Directors. Later, he retired from the US Post Office as a rural letter carrier in Salisbury. He was a founding member of the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, Leo is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Edith Shepherd Goodman, and his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include Robert Goodman and wife Judy, Jane Boggs and the late Jay Boggs of Salisbury, Martha Kluttz and husband Rick of Gold Hill, and Randall Goodman and wife Christine of Pittsboro; grandchildren Sam Goodman of Salisbury, Ginger Wescott and husband William of Washington, NC, Tricia Goodman of Greensboro, Tamara Klingsheim and husband Peter of Waynesville, Rev. Derek Boggs and wife Meredith of Boone, Amanda Berg and husband Eric of Ireland, Gary Kluttz of Alexandria, VA, Ed Kluttz and wife Page of Greensboro, Emily Driggers and husband Tim of Salisbury, David Goodman and wife Nicola of Pittsboro, and Matthew Goodman of Blacksburg, VA; 17 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16th from 1:30 to 3:00 pm at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Family Life Center.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 16th at 3:00 pm at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Gary Coble, Pastor, and Rev. William Ketchie. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Leo may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund, Piano-Music Fund or to the Building Improvement Fund.
