Richard Clyde Hinson

Richard Clyde Hinson, 79 of Salisbury, NC died Oct. 23, 2006 at the Brian Center of Salisbury. Born April 11, 1927 in Rowan County the son of the late William Crowell Hinson and Virgie Eagle Hinson.

1944 Graduate of Richfield High School, he worked 17 years as a carpenter with L. S. Bradshaw Construction Company and had retired from Norandal USA. A member of St. Peters Lutheran Church and former member of the Boy Scout Committee for Troop # 307. A member of the United Steel Workers Union, member of the American Legion & VFW. Veteran of the US Navy SeaBees detachment serving in the Philippines during WWII .

Also preceded in death by his first wife, Merrell Goodman Hinson whom died July 4, 1987, sister; Rachel Hill, stepson; Donald Richard Overcash, grandchildren; Natalie and Andrew McAbee, son in law Brian McAbee.

Survivors: 2nd wife; Pansy Hampton Hinson, married Oct. 22, 1988. sons; Richard Merrill Hinson and wife Debra of Star, NC. Steven Clyde Hinson and wife Ardith of Gold Hill, daughters, Pam Wilson and husband Billy of Gold Hill, Lesa McAbee-Harris and husband David of Fairview, NC, Patricia Fisher and husband Mark of Arden.

Brothers; William C. Hinson, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC, Dr. James N. Hinson of Salisbury.

Sisters; Betty Heath of High Point, Margaret Gordon of Richfield. step-daughter; Karen Freedle and husband Darrell of Lexington, step-daughter-in-law Jane Edwards of Salisbury 4 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren

Funeral Services: 2:00 PM Thursday at St. Peters Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. David Ridenhour, Pastor. Burial to follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell with Military graveside rites by the Rowan County Honor Guard.

Visitation; 7:00-8:30 PM Wednesday at Powles Funeral Home and remainder of the time at the home of a daughter Pam Wilson of Gold Hill.

Memorials to the Miller-Russell American Legion Post, Rockwell, NC.
