Here's how Harold C. Sherrill, Jr. of Statesville traces his lineage in a little book dated July 1998:
Harold C. Sherrill, Jr. is son of Frances Roberta Eagle,
daughter of Pinkney Alexander Eagle,
son of John Franklin Capers Eagle (1854-1936),
son of George Adam Eagle (1815-1886),
son of Mary Haldeman and George Eagle (b1780),
son of Mary Helig and George Eagle (b1752),
son of Adam Eagle (b1730),
son of Elizabeth and Marcus Eagle (d1767).

Sherrill also lists the following information. His only documentation in the book is a list of people he consulted.

Marcus Eagle died Sept. 1767 in Cocaliso Co., Pa.
"Because of the religious persecution in France, that some of the Eagles, who were Dutch Huguenots, left France and came to America. Then settled in Harrisburg, Pa., area."
Marcus Eagle "spoke German" and "had 5 children with Elizabeth."

George Eagle (b1780) "came to N.C. and settled in Cabarrus Co...had 4 children...spoke only German....George and his wife moved to southwest Missouri...buried in Culp Cem. at Stella, Mo."

George Adam Eagle (1815-1886) "spoke German only, until he started school, then he learned English."
