The 1800s (esp ca 1840s) saw a lot of miners who emigrated from Cornwall during Rowan Co's "gold rush". The 1850 census is full of these Cornish families, especially around the Gold Hill area. (Many a stone in Gold Hill Methodist cemetery reads "born Cornwall".) TYACK is a Cornish name.
