G.Q. Miller was for many years Sunday School Superintendant at Park Avenue Methodist Church, Salisbury, NC. When he retired about 1957, G.Q. moved to Florida and was for a time paymaster (or some such position) for the Los Angeles Dodgers during spring training. This was similar to the job he had held at the Cannon Mills plant two blocks from Park Avenue Church. He was succeeded as SS Supt by Frank Page.

After G.Q.'s wife, Gladys, died he married Azalee Lentz, another longtime member of Park Ave.
