Notes for Daisy “Carleen” Lyerly
Daisy Carleen Lyerly Fink

Daisy Carleen Lyerly Fink was given the gift of life by God through her parents, Pearl Holshouser Lyerly & Carr R. Lyerly, on November 7, 1934. In the waters of Holy Baptism, on January 2, 1935, Carleen was made a member of God’s family and joined to the death & resurrection of Jesus Christ. She affirmed her identity as a baptized child of God through her Confirmation at St. Peter’s Lutheran.

On Christmas Day 1958, she married Larry G. Fink, who together formed a loving partnership of faith & life for nearly 63 years. They were blessed by God with 2 sons and their spouses: Eric & Kris (West Columbia, SC); Dwayne & Catherine (Salisbury); and her beloved grandson & his girlfriend, Jacob (New Bern) & Elizabeth Conte (High Point). Carleen was blessed with one brother & his spouse, Rev. Gary & Dottie Lyerly (Irmo, SC). She was also survived by many cherished nieces & nephews, as well as lifelong friend & cousin, Jean Holshouser.

As a 1953 valedictorian at Granite Quarry High School, she was recruited by Mr. J. E. Fisher to work at F&M Bank as their 5th employee. For 63 years at the Faith, Granite Quarry & Trinity Oaks branches, “Daisy” touched the lives of many customers & community members with her smile, compassion, and loving spirit. At nearly 87 years of age, Daisy was still currently serving F&M-Trinity Oaks customers until the day before her passing.

After serving the Lord through her young adulthood at St. Peter’s, Carleen joined her husband at Faith Lutheran Church in 1960. In thanksgiving for God’s grace & never-failing love, she served in many roles - including multiple terms on church council, treasurer of the Capital Improvements Fund, and as an active member of the Altar Guild & Women’s Circles.

Carleen passed to life in the Church Triumphant in the early morning hours of October 23, 2021 - with her loving husband at her side and the words of “Jesus Loves Me” being sung. For over 8 decades, the Holy Spirit guided Carleen in her callings – as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother; as a beacon of light at F&M Bank; as a caring neighbor and friend; and as a faithful servant of Christ’s Church. Carleen’s journey with God now continues in the hope and promise of Easter resurrection life offered through Jesus our Lord. To God be the Glory!

The family wishes to thank so many loving people whom God made part of Carleen’s journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to carry on God’s work in the world, with suggestions being: Faith Lutheran Church Capital Improvement & Repair Fund, (PO Box 669, Faith, NC); NovusWay-Lutheridge (28 Spruce Drive, Arden, NC); or to a charity of one’s choice.

A Celebration of Life & Resurrection will be held at Faith Lutheran Church on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 2pm. An optional time of viewing (without family) will be from 1:00-1:45 in the Life Center chapel area, with family available to greet friends in the cemetery after committal.
