Shirley Trexler Loflin

SALISBURY - Mrs. Shirley Trexler Loflin, 78, of Salisbury, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at the Laurels of Salisbury.

She was born July 22, 1936, in Rowan County, to the late Arthur Joe and Nellie Kesler Trexler. Mrs. Loflin was a 1954 Graduate of Granite Quarry High School and was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. She was secretary for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company for 20 years and North Rowan Middle School for 11 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William Eugene "Bill" Loflin, who passed away Aug. 14, 2004.

Mrs. Loflin is survived by her son, Dr. William Eugene "Gene" Loflin and fiancee Gloria Rabun of Candler; sister Colleen T. Walton of Salisbury; brothers Kenneth Trexler of Salisbury and Elton Trexler of Harmony.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 30, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell.

Service: A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the Salisbury National Cemetery on Statesville Boulevard, conducted by Rev. Wayne Trexler.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Foundation, General Scholarship Fund, Asheville, NC.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the family of Mrs. Loflin.
