John Wyatt appears in the 1759 Rowan County Tax List.

Land Entry #1573 on 25 Sept 1778 is for 300 acres bordering James Story on both sides of Lick Creek and includes two improvements, one where John now lives, the other where George Story formerly lived. John obtained Land Grant #1786, dated 18 May 1789, for 300 acres on Lick Creek adjoining Moses Park and William Cole.

John's will, dated 4 Nov 1815, gave two acres to the Baptist and Methodist Church, land where Lick Creek Baptist Church now stands. The Wyatt's were members of Lick Creek Baptist Church. His wife, not named, received with son Eli the household furniture and plantation tools and animals.
