Laverna Mae Smith Kimrey, 87 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.
Laverna was born August 18, 1926 in Stanly County to the late Chester Dewey Smith and the late Nellie Mae Dick Smith. She was also preceded in death by husband, Aubrey Edward Kimrey, in 2006.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Johnny Leslie, will be on Monday at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Turner of Albemarle and Sheila Howard and husband, Eric, of Woodleaf, NC; son, Edward Gene Kimrey and wife, Donna, of Norwood; brothers, Marvin Smith of Locust and Cecil Smith and wife, Joyce, of Albemarle; sisters, Geneva Foreman of Oakboro and Wilma Freeman and husband, Gerald, of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and Muscular Dystrophy Association.
