SALISBURY - Claude Cecil Trexler, 90, of Salisbury, passed from this life unto eternal life Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at N.C. Lutheran Home, Salisbury, following an extended illness.

He was born in Rowan County, Nov. 30, 1918, to the late Frances Poole Trexler and Bossa Columbus Trexler. Mr. Trexler was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Fisher Trexler, on June 24, 1955.

He was educated at Rowan Academy and retired from No. 4 Weave Room, Cannon Mills, and Kannapolis after working there 44 years. He was a member of St. Luke's Reformed Church.

His hobbies include vegetable and flower gardening, working in his yard, fishing and being in the outdoors.

Surviving are daughters Claudine (Deanie) Ribelin and husband Kyle, Gayle Weddington and husband Don, all of Salisbury, Carolyn Thomason and husband Royce of Concord; and one son, Wayne Trexler and wife Doris of Granite Quarry. Also surviving are sisters Bertha Garrison of Granite Quarry and Irene Cross of Salisbury.

Preceding him in death were sisters Leitha Huffman and May Trexler; and brothers Moses Trexler, Paul Trexler, Arthur Trexler, Murray Trexler and Marvin Trexler.

He is survived by nine grandchildren, Dana Ribelin, Matthew Ribelin and wife Lauren Cronin, Ashely Snipes and husband Daniel, Brandi Boling and husband Shawn, Spencer Thomason, Leigh Ann Thomason, Wendi Thomason, Christy Shell and husband Darrell, Daryl Trexler and wife Dawn. Mr. Trexler is survived by six great-grandchildren, Kylie Creel, Dalton Ribelin, Lauren Shell, Sarah Shell, Abby Trexler and Ethan Trexler.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Powles Funeral Home Thursday, June 25 from 6-8 p.m.

Service: The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26 at the Powles Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Wayne Trexler. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Reformed Church Cemetery.

Memorials: May be made to Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, c/o New Beds.
