Monday, March 4, 2013 — Cassie Lee Chandler Almond, 91, of Albemarle passed away, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Forrest Oaks Healthcare Center, Albemarle.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The memorial service will follow in the Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel at 2 pm., with Rev. Cauble officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park.

Born August 31, 1921 in Stanly County, NC, she is the daughter of the late George Brad Chandler and the late Velna Tucker Chandler. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Roman Almond in 1987; and two sisters, Louise Harley and Opal Roberson.

She is survived by her son, Tony Almond and wife Sue of Oak Hill, Va., daughter, Tamara Diane Burleson and husband Calvin of Albemarle; granddaughters, April Fesperman and her husband Glen of Huntersville, Christie Johnson and her husband Keith of Fairfax, Va. and Catherine Dodrill and her husband Sean of Stephens City, Va. Great-grandchildren are Holly Coley and husband Seth, Kelly Fesperman, Haley Fesperman, David Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Tori Dodrill and Casey Dodrill, and one great-great grandson, Hunter Coley.

Cassie was employed by Knitsters, Inc. and B & D. Print. She was a long time member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She was a member of the UMC Women’s Society and enjoyed quilting and sewing and making clothes for the family. She was a seamstress who took great pride in her craft.

Memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Albemarle, NC; or to Hospice of Stanly County.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Almond family.
