Mary Boger

Mary Blackwelder Boger, 97, of Salisbury, formerly of Rockwell, died Saturday (June 8, 2002) at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury.

Born July 18, 1904, in Stanly County, Mrs. Boger was the daughter of the late Luther David and Margie Wallace Blackwelder. She was educated in the Rowan County schools and Academy Boarding School in Salisbury.

She retired after 22 years at Rowan Regional MedicalCenter as an LPN.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rockwell, and was a former member of the Rockwell Senior Citizens Club and the Hazel Trexler Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by first husband, Clyde Matthews, Sept. 5, 1952; second husband, Tom Fisher, July 22, 1967; and third husband, Adam Lee Boger, October, 1998; and a daughter, Hazel Matthews.

Survivors include sons William Matthews, Vestavia Hills, Ala., and Luther Matthews, Lake Charles, La.; stepsons Ray Boger, Mount Pleasant, Roy Boger, Rockwell, and Bobby Boger, Salisbury; daughters Nora Moose, Concord, and Sarah Dietrick, Clearwater, Fla.; stepdaughters Mildred Harrison, Lake Wales, Fla., Pearl Plott, York, S.C., and Edith Moose, Rockwell; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. James Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Craig Sigmon, pastor. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 4-5:30 p.m. today at Powles Funeral Home.
