Kathleen had 3 older brothers and one younger brother. She attended high school at Mitchell Home, Misenheimer, NC. Upon graduation she became the 4th grade teacher at the home, a position she held for 4 years, until her marriage to John Kirk Eagle. Kathleen taught for 25 years (1938-1963) at Morgan School, Liberty (Rowan County), NC. Prior to that she had taught at various one room schools in SE Rowan County. Fred Hill, a 3rd grade student of Kathleen at Jackson School and now a Methodist minister, gave these facts while speaking at Kathleen's funeral at Liberty Methodist Church on July 8, 1989. He spoke at Kathleen's request and gathered his data while visiting Kathleen in the nursing home after her stroke.
Lib Fry told me (7/8/89) that Kathleen came to Mitchell Home before she reached HS age and lived at the home year around.
