Thursday, October 30, 2008 — Ethel Mae Dunn Simpson, 94, of Albemarle, died at 3:06 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at her daughter’s home after five years of declining health.

The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, prior to the hour of the service.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, in Stanly Gardens of Memory, Albemarle, with The Rev. David Alexander officiating.

Born March 8, 1914, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Telia Mason Dunn and was a homemaker. She faithfully attended Second Street Presbyterian Church since its beginning as long as her health permitted.

She was married to the late Lee J. Simpson who preceded her in death in 1987. A brother, Ernest Dunn, and a sister, Bertha Dunn Cotton, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Furr and husband, Dwain, and Linda Herrin, all of Albemarle; a brother, Clyde Dunn, of Albemarle; five grandchildren, Randy, Jerry and Ricky Furr, Kelley Eades and Eric Herrin; six great-grandchildren, Laura Furr, Lindsey Furr, Ricky Furr Jr., Travis Furr, Logan Furr and Haley Eades; and a great-great-grandchild, Zoe Furr.

Memorials may be made to: Foundation Fighting Blindness, 11435 Cronhill Drive, Owings Mills, MD.
