In 1805 John and Elizabeth purchased a tract of land from the heirs of Lawrence Lingle adjoining Lowerstone Church. At that time the church was known as the Presbyterian Meeting House, and this was the name used on the deed granted to John and Elizabeth. They were members of Organ Church but also attended Lowerstone since it was near their home and the churches held services on alternate Sundays.

Lawrence Lingle (Lorentz Lingel) had been granted the tract on 21 Dec 1761 by Earl Granville.
