Notes for George Washington Page
Company H, 8th NC Infantry, CSA

(From conversation with Jesse Floyd Page on June 30, 1996):
Jesse clearly remembers conversations with Uncle George about fighting in the Civil War. Two things stand out, the mud and the guns they used.
The sale at which George's personal property was auctioned offered a treasure of antiques and was attended by George Alexander Page. The items of interest to him went for 10 or more times what he was willing to pay. Items auctioned included old money of larger than current size found in old books, cylindrical phonograph records, and Civil War rifles. I am not clear as to when this sale was held, but Frank Eury was the primary beneficiary.

(From conversation with George Alexander Page and Jesse Floyd Page on June 29, 1997):
George Alexander Page and Jesse Floyd Page attended the funeral of George Washington Page. He was buried in the family cemetery on his property. His unmarried children lived there, and the sale of his property occurred after the last died. George Alexander Page and wife Alice attended the sale.

From his wife George Page received land that came into the family in 1827. In March 2000, 100 acres of this tract belongs to his great-grandson, Frank Eury.

"Also there is a basket that Aunt Esther gave me about 15 years ago, and my recollection was that she said it was either made or given to her by her uncle George Page." [Lavon Page 6/1/01; see Reunion folder/Pictures/basket picture]
